On January 10, 2023, Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University entered into an agreement with Saraya Co., Ltd. (President: Yusuke SARAYA), a manufacturer of chemicals and everyday items, for the establishment of the Department of Bio-engineering Nursing as a joint research course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The course began in April 2023, and focuses on the research and development of new nursing technologies and equipment based on proprietary skin-blotting technology.
The Department of Bio-engineering Nursing is the first of its kind anywhere in the world, incorporating elements of engineering and biotechnology in order to explore new frontiers in nursing.
Saraya Co., Ltd. will invest 150 million yen (30 million yen annually, across five years) into this joint research course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the ceremony to celebrate the establishment of the agreement, Professor Takeo MINEMATSU of the university talked about the research being performed in this joint research course, including the differences between the skin-blotting technology (which serves as a foundation for innovation) and conventional technology.
Skin-blotting is a technology that makes it possible to painlessly extract health markers by simply applying a patch (similar to an adhesive bandage) to the skin.
Through this technology, senior citizens will be able to check themselves for dehydration and monitor their own health and illnesses, without needing to draw blood samples. The ultimate goal is a future in which people can enjoy peace of mind living in their own homes, with greater efficiency in healthcare reducing the burden placed on medical professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 12, 2023, Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University entered into an agreement with Molten Corporation (President: Kiyofumi TAMIAKI), a manufacturer of sporting goods, medical and welfare equipment, and other products, for the establishment of the Department of Well-being Nursing as a joint research course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The course starts in April 2024, with a focus on the following research and development:
\u2460 Development of a Robotic Chair (integrating both bed and wheelchair) that can make life at home more comfortable for bedridden patients such as elderly people, including meals, sleep, use of the toilet, and getting around.
\u2461 Construction of a Robotic Home that uses AI for diagnoses based on vital data collected via this Robotic Chair, and that links with remote nursing care using IoT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative will blaze new trails in the fields of nursing and nursing care by incorporating elements of engineering and digital technology, and will be Japan\u2019s first initiative of its kind at a nursing university.
Molten Corporation will invest 175 million yen (35 million yen annually across five years) into this joint research course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
